The Twitter & Socializing.

Have you ever wondered what the point of Twitter is, other than to tell witty jokes and tell celebrities they suck? Well according to PR pro, Lauren Marinigh, it can also be used to make the right connections to help your future.

In her article, ‘How to Use Twitter to Make Valuable Connections,’ she points out that it is much easier to connect with people on Twitter than it is on LinkedIn, which is a more direct professional platform. This is very true! I follow the owner of a local PR firm and he followed me back! So he not only sees what I’m capable of when it comes to social media, but he is easily accessible for me to interact with, which is very cool.

She says to focus on the following things:

  • Make it easy for people to find you;
  • Talk about what you’re interested in;
  • Interact with people;
  • Join Twitter chats; and
  • Take your new connections offline.

So, in short there are quite a few things you can do to optimize the twitter world such as placing keywords that have to do with what you specialize in in your bio. Another great tip she mentioned was to talk about what you’re interested in. So I guess if you’re interested in cursing in every tweet and talking about your social life, well… Good luck. But if you love going on adventures and writing, then you should definitely post stuff about that.

So kind of a short blog today, but it’s pretty simple and I don’t want to reiterate everything because that’s plagiarism! Right?
